Algumas sugestões para uma Doutrina Social da Igreja no Continente americano

Resumo

Na sua Exortação Apostólica Pós-Sinodal Ecclesia in America (EA), João Paulo II recolheu no capítulo V – Caminho para a Solidariedade – as muitas propostas dos bispos do Continente, em relação às graves questões sociais que afligem os diferentes países das Américas. A Exortação apresenta, como prioridade pastoral, a difusão da doutrina social da Igreja, apontando-a como caminho para iluminar as consciências e encontrar respostas e saídas para os problemas sociais e propondo a elaboração de um “catecismo social”. Quais seriam os pontos centrais de uma doutrina social da Igreja aplicada às Américas e como deveria ser elaborada? Parece que seu ponto de partida deveria ser concretamente as angústias, as necessidades e o grito dos mais pobres e seu ponto de chegada a busca de maior justiça na superação das desigualdades e na “globalização da solidariedade”; seu método, o de buscar os sinais dos tempos, dando uma resposta corajosa aos problemas, seguindo o caminho do “ver, julgar e agir”, tomando em conta a rica doutrina social das igrejas locais e elaborando seus conteúdos da maneira mais participativa e democrática possível. O horizonte último desta doutrina seria a preocupação de encontrar formas de cooperação e encaminhamentos práticos para as questões que mais afligem as pessoas do Continente: fome, desemprego, concentração das terras e das riquezas, com aumento da pobreza e exclusão, migrações, drogas. Deveria voltar-se também para a busca de uma nova ética nas relações internacionais, com regras mais justas para as trocas internacionais, regulação do mercado financeiro, alívio do peso da dívida externa dos países mais pobres.

Abstract: In his post-Synod Apostolic Exhortation Ecclesia in America (EA), John Paul II assembled in chapter V – The way to Solidarity – the many proposals of the bishops of the continent in relation to the grave social questions which afflict the different countries of the Americas. The Exhortation presents, as a pastoral priority, a diffusion of the social doctrine of the Church, pointing it out as the path to illuminate consciences and to find answers and exits for social problems and proposing the elaboration of a “social catechism”. What would be the central points of a social doctrine of the Church applied to the Americas and how should it be elaborated? It appears that its point of departure should be concretely anguishes, necessities and the cry of the poorest and the point of reaching out to the search for greater justice in the overcoming of inequalities and in the “globalization of solidarity”; its method, to go after the signs of the times giving a courageous answer to the problems, following the path of “see, judge and act”, taking into account the rich social doctrine of the local Churches and elaborating their contents in the most participative and democratical manner. The last horizon of this doctrine woul be the preoccupation to find forms of cooperation and practical directions for the questions which most afflict the people of the continent: hunger, unemployment, concentration of landholdings and riches, with the increase of poverty and exclusion, migrations and drugs. There should also be a turning towards the search for a new ethic in international relations, with more just rules for international exchanges, regulation of the financial market, relief from the external debt of the poorest countries.
