Abstract: In addition to briefly addressing the Exhortation Dear Amazon, this study seeks to indicate and apply some hermeneutical criteria for an adequate reading of the document. It begins by placing the Exhortation on the broad “walking synodal”, which had a “before” (preparation process), a “during” (the synodal Assembly) and an “after” (reception process); conceives and characterizes the Amazon as a new subject and a new paradigm; it makes a reading of the social, cultural, ecological and ecclesial dreams presented by the Exhortation, as intrinsically interconnected; and analyzes the fact that the Pope did not say “yes” to the ordination of women and married men, which does not, however, mean a “no”.

Keywords: Amazon; Culture; Ecology; Evangelization; Indigenous people; Ministries.
ER -
